Mayoral Candidacy Leipzig 2027

Leipzig can: Future, Culture, Innovation, Economy, Education, Mobility.

I’m running for Mayor in 2027 — so that other cities look to Leipzig as their model.

Who I am

Leipzig has been my home for seventeen years. I studied political science, and during my studies I got a look inside the Saxon Ministry of the Interior and a parliamentary group in the Bundestag. Then came years in financial consulting and in recruitment, before I helped grow powercloud from a small team to several hundred employees as Chief People & Culture Officer. Today I work between Leipzig and Dresden, at SpinLab and ExciteLab — every day with founders who turn an idea into a company.

Politically, I’m a pragmatist: I want politics based on numbers, data, and facts — not on polemics or ideology.

I’m the father of a wonderful daughter. That she should live, ten years from now, in a city that invests instead of administering its debt is one of the reasons I’m running. Most of my free time goes to her and my family, the rest to sport, a good book, or friends.

My Vision for Leipzig

I want Leipzig, ten years from now, to be the city other major German cities look to — not because of a slogan, but because it actually works here. A city that shapes its own future instead of merely administering it. A city that leads, instead of catching up.

The most modern administration in Germany.

No more trips to the town hall for routine matters: re-registering your address, applying for an ID card, registering a business, filing a building permit — fully digital, mobile, simple by 2029. If other countries have managed this for years, we can too. What the administration expects from its citizens, it owes them in return: punctuality, clarity, reliability.

A service Leipzig can be proud of.

A digital administration resolves routine decisions in seconds, not weeks — freeing up caseworkers to focus on the cases that genuinely need human judgment. This isn’t a vision for some distant future; it’s the current state of technology, one Leipzig should finally put to use.

A city with an open door for entrepreneurs.

Anyone who wants to invest in Leipzig should know: there is a contact at city hall who can actually make decisions. I will personally accompany every company setting up in Leipzig with more than 100 jobs — from the first conversation through to approval. Standard procedures will run in under six weeks instead of months, with one dedicated contact per project. Bureaucracy is not a locational advantage.

Shaping together, not administering from above.

I won’t drive this modernization alone, and not against anyone — but together with the people who live and work here: with entrepreneurs who bring ideas and capital, and with citizens who experience every day where the administration lets them down. Leipzig can. If we take it on together.

What I Stand For

Solid Finances

“More than a billion in debt — and rising every month. That's not an inheritance, it's a bill.”

Leipzig doesn't live on debt — it lives on substance. A budget run on sound business principles — yes to investment, no to structural deficits.

Strengthening the Economy

“Business registration in 24 hours. Like in Tallinn.”

Commercial space, faster approvals, less red tape. A city where founders and established businesses alike want to invest.

Innovation

“If you do research in Leipzig, you should be able to found a company here too.”

Bringing research and business closer together, enabling smart-city pilot projects, and opening city contracts to young companies.

Education as an Investment

Leipzig's future is decided in its schools and daycare centers. Clearing the maintenance backlog, paying staff better, and securing quality.
